Your professional career has a limiting reagent on it. That reagent is your education level, and if you’re trying to get a promotion in these interesting (in the Chinese curse sense) times, any kind of change to your income potential in a positive manner should be evaluated and considered.
One of the best ways to increase your earnings potential is through a Master’s degree program. Post-secondary education, particularly in work specialized fields, like Law and Business and Engineering, can be the difference between getting that promotion and pay raise, and being unemployed.
Here’s why: A Master’s degree demonstrates not just that you’ve gained an educational attainment, but that you have shown perseverance and a willingness to work. It shows that you can be self directed, and that you can get into a competitive program. And it shows your dedication to the field you got the degree in; it’s an indicator that you’re willing to stick to the field and are committed to it.
Getting a Master degree, especially if you’ve been in the work force for a while, requires a careful balancing act. You don’t have the time to go back to living on campus, and have other commitments as well — keeping your current job, maintaining your mortgage, and keeping in touch with your family. Fortunately, there are several good, accredited online Master’s degree programs, in fields ranging from jurisprudence to business to hotel management to counseling and education.
Online graduate degree programs have gotten better since the mid ’90s. Where they used to be seen as being a step up from diploma mills, now they’re offered by top rank schools, like Harvard Business School and MIT. The instruction is challenging and top notch, and the learning pace can be handled online from the comfort of your own home.
Other avenues for getting a Masters degree include getting accredited for the skills you already use in your job. This kind of “work related” degree program can extend to Doctorates if need be, though in most cases, it tends to be for gaining an Engineering degree for someone who started out as a shop machinist.
While a Master’s degree is not the only requirement for career advancement or career change, it’s an important one — and one that has, statistically, proven to be a real income generator. So look at your Masters Degree as an investment in yourself, and your own income potential, rather than as an expense that you have to shoulder.
Likewise, don’t treat a graduate degree as something that’s a guarantee — you still have to be good at the skills your future employer is hiring for. All a Master degree shows is that you have demonstrated these skills to someone else; it doesn’t demonstrate that you’ll be a good team player or a good fit for the business culture. Even though the Master’s degree will help you get a job interview you’ll still have to win them over in the interview.
Read on to learn more about online master’s degree programs for career advancement or career change, plus get tips on how to find an accredited graduate degree program that suits your career plan.

When making a speech your whole point in making that speech is to try and get a message across to your audience. So you need to make your speech in such a way that you motivate your audience into taking action. This, of course, is the main reason why you should use motivational speech topics but let’s have a look in more detail.
Have you ever heard a speech that has made you cry? Have you ever heard a speech that leaves you uplifted and motivated to go and do something? When a speaker gives a speech that affects people that way then he has succeeded with what he wanted to do. He has won over his audience and they are now at his mercy.
When giving a motivational speech you are aiming to uplift and inspire your audience. You want your speech to be relevant to the topic that your audience is there to listen to. You want to promote excellence and show that you are an expert in your field and give them the feeling that they need to pursue what you want of them. Most importantly you want your audience to leave your speech feeling better than they did when they arrived.
There are many occasions where you can use motivational speeches such as at weddings, graduations, business seminars, sports awards ceremonies, coaching situations, self-improvement seminars and many more.
What topic do you choose for your motivational speech? Well, it will all depend on the occasion for which you are giving the speech.
Some of the topics that you may be able to use are speeches for improving sales, improving self esteem, becoming a winner, setting goals for the future, positive thinking, religion, charity, letting go of the past, becoming successful, affirmations, losing weight, getting fit, breaking habits, career development, gaining confidence and I’m sure there are many more that I haven’t mentioned.
These are all topics that you can use motivational speeches for and if what you’re looking for is not listed then try and think about the type of emotion that you want to send to your audience and work from there.
Speeches can be difficult to write and it can help if rather than just writing it, stand in front of the mirror and talk. If you don’t really want to be in front of the mirror then stand in front of the sofa and pretend you have an audience there. Sometimes just playing around doing a pretend speech can often bring out some great ideas whereas just sitting down to write a speech your mind can often go blank.
Just remember your main goals of what you want to achieve and be as motivating as you can to get that message across to your audience.

Last week I asked a select group of my readers to answer the following question:
If there was ONE thing that I could improve about my tennis game,
it would be:____________________________________________
I spent the weekend going over the emails and the response was enormous! Most of the people who responded had one particular thing in their game that they wanted to improve. Here are the results of the answers that 69 of them gave to the following question:
If there was ONE thing that I could improve about my tennis game,
it would be:____________________________________________
1. My Serve 23 (33%)
2. My Backhand 11 (16%)
3. My Mental Game / My Mental Toughness (10) 14%
4. My Volleys / My Net Game / My Overheads (9) 13%
5. My Strategy (8) 12%
6. My Footwork / My Level of Fitness / My Forehand / All Others 8 (12%)
These are some interesting statistics! I also asked respondents to list the benefits they would gain from improving these areas of their game. Here’s the breakdown:
What’s the benefit you’ll gain from it?
1. I would gain confidence. 54%
2. I would be more consistent. 18%
3. I would win more matches. 14%
4. I would have more fun / enjoy the game more. 12%
5. I would be more competitive / all others. 2%
No surprise to me that their Serve came in as the number one response. Being that it’s the most important shot in tennis (and rightfully so), the serve is the one shot that over 1/3 of my readers want to improve.
I applaud them for being open and honest enough to share their tennis goals and challenges with me. I honor them. A lot of people are never willing to step up to the plate and seek out what it is that just may put that extra oomph in their game, and take it to the next level.
One interesting statistic that is missing from the above list (it didn’t appear anywhere) was My Return of Serve. The return of serve is the second most important shot in the game of tennis, and yet it didn’t make the list. The absence of the return of serve in this poll is interesting from a logical point of view – it should be there – but totally understandable by Yours Truly, because the return of serve is not a ‘cool’ shot for most players. Most players (time to be honest) will attribute a poor return of serve to something magical that their opponent did with their serve; or perhaps brush it off as a fluke. Often times when a player misses a return of serve, they either
1) Congratulate their opponent on a great serve, or
2) Berate themselves loudly on the court for missing a return that they can’t pass off as a great serve by their opponent.
Oh, how the ego rears it’s ugly head on the tennis court!
Now don’t get me wrong; I’m not here to put anyone down, but rather to clarify and enlighten you on the best way to get the results you want. That’s what it all really boils down to, right? Results. Results matter. Results are what we want. So let’s take a closer look at how to get them.
In order to get the results you want on the tennis court, you’ve got to figure out why you want them. There were some fine answers listed above: Confidence, Consistency, Winning More Matches, Having Fun, Enjoying the Game of Tennis, Being Competitive…outstanding responses. These are all benefits of gained by the improvement in one single area.
Let’s peel away the layers here for a minute and see what those benefits might lead to in a personal way.
If, for example, you want a better serve because it would allow you to win more matches, then stop and think about the benefit of winning more matches. What does that mean to you personally? Does it mean respect and admiration from your friends, parents, fellow tennis players, teammates, coach, etc?
That’s where you want to go in your mind. Go to the place where you see the personal benefits of improving your tennis game – not just the ‘on-court’ benefits. When you focus on the personal benefits of improving your game, you have left the realm of wishful thinking and entered the world of Possibility Thinking. This gives you the mental fuel to focus on doing the work necessary to get the results you want on the tennis court.
So how would you feel if I told you that you could possibly get the great feeling of __________ (fill in the blank) if you were able to fix the parts of your tennis game that are broken? Great or really great? This is where the rubber meets the road. The personal benefits you get are what you really desire. You can do this! The key is to improve in the areas of your game that you need to fix, and focus on the personal benefit you will gain from it.
Now I know it’s easier said than done, but you really can get to where you want to be in your game. One big step you can take is to open up a dialog with yourself that might go something like this:
Okay, I know I need to improve my ___________. If I improve my __________, I will win more matches, feel more confident and play more consistently. This will personally benefit me in the following ways: _____________________________.
Now, what’s the one thing I can start doing today that I really don’t want to do, but if I do it, I know that I will move one step closer to my tennis goal of ___________?
Ask yourself these questions. This is the stuff that takes you to the next level. Show me a person who is frustrated with why their game is not where they want it to be, and I’ll show you a person who is not asking themselves the right questions. I don’t want that to sound harsh – I just want you to really think about it.
When it comes right down to it, you know and I know that you have a great tennis player inside of you just waiting to burst out! So many of you are just one inch away from your tennis goals. The more time you spend focusing on all the possibilities exist for your game – and taking the steps you need to get there – the quicker things will happen for you.
You may not read a lot of tennis articles like this – and there’s a reason for that. A lot of people that teach tennis (tennis pros, coaches, etc) are uncomfortable talking about subjects like these. They tell you:
Just keep practicing and coming to the clinics / lessons / camps, you’ll get the hang of it…
A lot of them are giving you what they think you want – and making you pay a lot of money to get it.
Does that mean I’m against working with your local pro? Absolutely not. A good coach or pro is worth more than you can imagine. The point I am trying to drive home is this: I’ve been down the teaching tennis road, and I know where it leads a lot of the time – to that little town called Frustration, and sometimes it’s hard to get a ticket out of that place. I am not trying to sell you anything in this article other than an idea. That idea is that YOU need to take responsibility for seeking out and improving the parts of your game that you know, in your heart of hearts, you need to improve. Are you stuck in Frustrationville? Can’t find a ticket out? Then grab your racket, clothes and shoes and start walking. Move out of there. Start moving to where you want to be. One step at a time. There are new places and experiences just around the corner. I won’t give you the promise of a free first-class ticket on an airline that doesn’t exist. But I do promise to point the way, so to speak, and give you what you need – so that YOU can go out onto the court and get what you want.
I encourage you to take it to the next level – whatever that next level is for you. Seek out the possibilities for your tennis game. Don’t settle for less than your best. Make yourself a little uncomfortable and stretch yourself – that’s where the growth comes. There’s an old saying:
If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always gotten.
Find your weak areas and improve them. Don’t stop. Don’t quit. Press on. I’m watching you, and I can’t wait to see the tennis player you’ll become! I’m with you all the way!

Dining with kids who haven’t yet grasped the concept of eating out can be wildly frustrating and stressful. You can actually find yourself in a terrible situation by not planning beforehand and reacting negatively to people around you who don’t appreciate your screaming toddler ruining their meal.
You don’t have to keep pulling your hairs out of your head when you consider dining with kids in your favorite restaurant anymore, if you follow these time-tested, proven tips:
1. Choose a very family-friendly, healthy fast food place such as Wendy’s so your child can be exposed to what it’s like to eat out, away from the comfort of their own home. Whether or not Wendy’s is healthy is debatable, but the trick here is to introduce dining away from home at a restaurant you feel comfortable with when your child gets a little out of hand.
2. Once they’re used to eating out, it’s time to take them to your favorite family breakfast place like IHOP so they can begin to see and feel what it’s like to have a server take your order as well as the process of the server bringing food to the table.
3. Make sure, when you go to a restaurant with waiter service, to bring items to occupy your child’s mind and time! Bring a couple of books (Curious George books work wonders for my toddler), a handful of quiet toys, and some snacks to keep your child occupied, especially if the food is taking too long to be served.
4. Don’t react negatively once your child starts to misbehave. Speak in a normal tone and tell your child his or her behavior is inappropriate and won’t be tolerated.
5. If your child doesn’t stop misbehaving within a reasonable amount of time (approx. 2 minutes or so), quietly and sternly inform them you’re going to have to take them outside the restaurant until they choose to behave appropriately. If you have to take them outside, do so for a good 5 minutes (yeah I know, your eggs are getting cold!) so they can begin to remember the consequences in the future for misbehavior at a restaurant.
6. When they behave well, be sure to praise them!
The most important thing to remember when dining with kids in a restaurant is that they are still going through the learning process of what it feels like to eat away from the comfort of their luxury high chair in their favorite place – HOME! The more you eat out, the more comfortable and well-behaving your child will eventually be, as long as you apply these principles.

A healthy, happy pet is the pleasure and pride of any dog owner.
Whippets are, despite their fragile appearance, very strong and healthy dogs and the best way to maintain your whippet healthy and good looking is a sensible diet.
Unfortunately what makes an appropriate diet in a whippet view and in yours is probably not the same.
Most Nutritious Dog Food According to your Whippet
Unattended human food
Is the most sought after food in whippet world. Whippets show a diabolical ability in reading your mind and body language to catch the occasional moment of distraction. This whippet trait will teach you very effectively not to leave food around and will make of you a better housekeeper.
Garbage
The inebriating smell of trash has earned whippets the name of garbage hounds. Again, this will improve your domestic abilities.
Chocolate
Chocolate is poisonous for dogs. Recently it has been used to sweetly exterminate coyotes. Be egoistic, keep all your chocolate for yourself.
Brittle bones
Resist those doe eyes. Cooked bones are brittle and can cause choking, intestinal blockage and pierced intestinal walls.
Most Nutritious Dog Food According to the Virtuous Whippet Owner
Best dry dog food
In the past the only option was making your own dog food at home. Dog diet was an easy resolved matter, it consisted of cooked meat scraps and rice plus some occasional left over.
The dogs enjoyed the food variety and a reasonable good health but this regimen involved a good deal of extra cooking, storing, shopping and general laboring. I must admit I welcomed the advent of dry dog food with immense gratitude.
For convenience I never gave my whippets any other option but the dry dog food and some occasional table scrap added for variety.
My whippets always did very well on this diet as long as I stuck to the best dry dog foods. Whenever I strayed from the premium brands I was punished with skin problems and consequent unwelcome vet bills.
I found out at my expense that veterinary bills can exceed what you might save on less nutritious dog food.
Even dry food loses nutrients in time and the fats can degrade and become rancid. Check the expiration date and store the food in a dry, cool place.
Occasional selected table scraps
Who can resist those imploring eyes?
For variety you can add some table scraps to your pet food when appropriate leftovers like meat, chicken, eggs or rice are available.
To discourage begging, always serve the table scraps in your dog bowl.
Homemade dog food
The debate between the proponents of home made dog food and those who prefer commercial feeds is still open.
On one hand commercial diets have been tested on entire generation of dogs, their components provide optimal nutrition and the best dry dog foods contain human-quality ingredients.
On another hand these foods are highly processed and are very unlike a dog’s natural diet.
Raw food diet
Proponent of dog raw food diet, feed their dogs whole raw animal carcasses pointing out that this diet is closer to the natural diet of wild animals and claiming good results for the health of their pets and savings on food bills.
The author, a biologist and lifelong dog enthusiast, ten years ago fell incurably in love with whippets, a beautiful, fun and easy care dog breed.

The following article provides some answers to the most common questions about structured settlements. By the time you’re done reading this, hopefully you’ll have a better understanding of structured settlement answers and information.
Who is eligible for structured settlements?
Anyone involved in an accident or lawsuit can be offered a structured settlement as part of the court’s ruling. It’s especially popular with auto accident and medical malpractice victims. However, no one is ineligible from receiving structured settlements.
Why do people sell their settlements?
Many people experience great financial distress during their situation that causes them to receive a settlement in the first place. By selling their settlement, they’re able to have a large sum of money to do what they need, rather than getting a tiny amount every month or so. Some people just sell their settlements to finance an education or other large purchase, which is really quite frivolous at times. Education or a home is one thing, but selling a settlement to buy a new car or a boat is a little irresponsible.
Who can I sell my settlement to, and how do I find them?
There are plenty of companies that will purchase structured settlements from people for various rates. To find these companies you can look in your phone book, or simply do a search online for companies. Make sure that you research all the companies before you agree to anything to ensure you’re working with a legitimate company.
What do I lose by selling for a lump sum?
You’ll lose some of your settlement by selling it off to a settlement funding company. However, if you’re in dire need of financial salvation, the money you don’t get will be well worth the money that you do get. You’ll surrender all rights to your settlement to the purchaser, leaving you with no legal ties to the money. They will take care of everything else between them and the company that’s paying the settlement.

If you are just starting to look into forex trading strategies as a way to generate extra income, make certain you start on the right path. Although the rewards can be massive, Forex is fraught with risk and the possibility of losing your initial investment. To start your journey on the right foot, here are three tips to help you get started.
Tip #1: Read Up
Before you decide to take another step into the world of forex and trading strategies, get your hands on a few top books on the topic at your library or over at Amazon. Become familiar with the terminology used and the basics of fx trading. Visit currency exchange websites and see if you can understand everything you are reading. If not, refer back to your books until you have a good grasp of the language used and the basics of trading.
Tip #2: Develop Your Strategy Using Forex Trading Signal Software
Invest in one or two of the popular software programs that help you with your trading strategy, such as Forex Killer. Do not use these programs to trade with real money on a live account yet. Instead, use the programs to get a deeper feel for the market, and to create a trading strategy for yourself ahead of time, before you begin risking money. Keep in mind, the cost for these types of programs are very small compared to the much larger investment you’ll have to make once you are trading for real. Make certain you use these to develop your profitable strategy now.
Tip #3: Practice Trading On A Demo Account
Now you are ready to start getting some hands-on experience trading – still without risking any money. Most forex trading companies will provide you with a demo account of their trading platform. That way you can practice trading in a virtual environment without any risk of losing money. Stick with trading on a demo account until you completely understand what you are doing and your strategy is proving profitable for you. There is no reason to risk any actual money until you’ve proved yourself successful on a demo account.
Bonus Tip: Once you are trading on the demo accounts or on live accounts, you’ll want to stay on top of the market by interacting with others active in the field. A free forex forum and chat room is a good place to go: http://www.freeforexforums.com

From early childhood and throughout the schooling system, we learn the “3R’s”: Reading, wRiting and aRithmetic – the science of numbers. (Nowadays, you need to add a fourth “R”- gRaphing!).
Later, we reach a certain level in our education where were may feel rightly or wrongly (often complacently) that our levels of mastering reading and writing are satisfactory.
However… What about numbers? Generally, we do not fully realize the extent to which numbers control and regulate our lives. We are all identified by innumerable numbers from birth to the very last moments of our lives. Just reflect only on some of our important dates: birth, starting school, finishing primary school, finishing secondary school, the admission to university and then also with every stage of our education imprinted with our marks, marks and marks (percentages!). Then other numbers: the first love (the date, some of us remember!), dates of: marriage, birth of children, the first work, salaries, divorce, then blood pressure, cholesterol and sugar levels, the first operation, the passing away (not yet?) and so on. These numbers are unique to you and unique to me. They all identify you and identify me.
Some numbers quantify information. These are essential to understanding facts, events, processes, laws etc… The US novelist, Nathanel West, 1903-1940, stated aptly: “Numbers constitute the only universal language”.
Studies have shown that even rhesus monkeys can understand the relation between numbers 1 to 9 i.e., they are able to judge whether the specified number is smaller or bigger than the other number.
So, what is the present state of arithmetic? Unfortunately, most of the people satisfy themselves on a very low level of its cognizance. (As an anecdote, I may tell you that I was approached by a lawyer who asked me: “I have to assign a plaintiff 15% of the amount demanded by defendant; how much is it?”). Most people fear numbers if they require any further calculations: making fractions, multiplying, using proportions or inverse proportions, converting to percentages or substituting to formulas. What are the implications of this fact? It often leads to impaired judgement of the average citizen regarding handling their home economics, investment and, as the case may be, the events in their own country and on our globe. As the citizens of a “global village”, we are all affected by events not only in our place or country but even in far-away-countries. Consider these numbers: people affected by HIV, bird flu, tsunami, price of a barrel of oil, tsunami in financial markets, increasing ozone hole, decreasing shoals of fish in oceans, decreasing number of polar bears, the increase in the average yearly temperature, increasing extinction of species of animals and plants. One can present endless number of examples.
The numbers can be puzzling, depressing, shocking, fascinating, mystifying or upsetting. Well, they can be… An educated, intelligent and honest person will perceive them this way. A Polish film director Jerzy Konwicki (renown for his “Ashes and Diamonds”) used to say: “only a cow does not care”.
True, a cow does not know, for example, about the “mad cow” disease and does not understand what it means that a certain percentage of cows are affected by foot-and-mouth disease and bluetongue virus. There are however, unfortunately, also some examples among educated as well as decision making persons, institutions and governments who do not care. They have dubious motives to ignore some numbers (and related facts) they do not like. What will be the consequences of their arrogance to human beings in the future? A Japanese proverb says that more intelligent are those who see further…
Below there are several examples of numbers compiled from the Internet, Time and Trumpet. They may not be exact; however you may find them interesting and worthy of your attention:
65 000 – estimated population of Africa’s black rhinos in 1970
3 600 – estimated population of Africa’s black rhino in 2007
2 000 000 000 000 USD – US cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, so far
3 500 000 – Jews murdered in Poland by German Nazis
32 000 000 – population of Poland before II WW; 24 000 000 after the war
1500 – new HIV infections a day in South Africa
1 000 000 – Americans killed yearly by heart attacks (cardiacnetwork.net)
7:2 – ratio of average number of TV sets to children in the USA
1500 – number of hours, the average USA teenager spends watching TV
67% – percentage of Australian and USA men are overweight
1 in 12- South Africans who had access to the Internet in 2007
15-30 000 000 – men suffering from erectile dysfunction (NIH, USA government statistics)
690 000 000 – number of Asians living on $1 or less per day (Asian Dev. Bank)
142.8 – number of women raped per 100 000 in South Africa; 150 per day
66 000 000 – number of people in the USA suffering with arthritis, the most common chronic health problem in the USA
3% – rate of the green gas increasing per year
7 600 000 – number of cancer death worldwide in 2007
5 200 000 – Americans suffer from full-blown diabetes and don’t know it…yet.
14 000 – dolphins killed annually in Japan
400 000 000 – number of people in the world suffering from depression and mental disorders (WHO).
Look again at the numbers. They alone are meaningless. However, together with the descriptive information, they carry powerful information, obviously to those who are intelligent enough to understand them. Unfortunately, it does not mean yet, that those who understand them and have authority to make decision/s to change some of the numbers/trends are willing to act…
